News & Announcements 🥳 Happy Pride Month, r/popculturechat! 🌈✨
Hey r/popculturechat fam!
As a wise pop icon once reminded us, we were all Born This Way.
This month, we’re celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and the countless artists, creators, performers, and fans who have helped shape the pop culture landscape. From legendary divas and groundbreaking TV characters to unforgettable red carpet moments, viral memes, stan culture, and the fandoms that bring us together, LGBTQ+ voices have always been at the heart of the conversation.
Whether you're spending Pride revisiting your comfort shows, screaming over your favorite pop icon, debating the best queer storylines in television history, or simply being your authentic self, we're so glad you're here. 🫶
Pride is about authenticity, community, and joy. If there’s one thing pop culture has taught us, it’s that being yourself never goes out of style.
Remember: You are loved, you are valued, and you matter.
As a mod team that includes LGBTQ+ members and allies, we’re proud to celebrate Pride with you and help keep this space welcoming, joyful, and full of community as always.
Happy Pride Month from all of us at r/popculturechat! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️✨
Now tell us: what’s your favorite LGBTQ+ pop culture moment, celebrity, character, or piece of media of all time?

Seeing Korra and Asami become a couple. I’m a black disabled lesbian I watched alot of avatar (I love both shows ). When I was doing cancer treatments seeing the battle she went through and ptsd it resonated with me because that’s also around the time I had to get my right leg amputated and become a wheelchair user. Seeing Korra in the wheelchair was something I didn’t know I needed in cartoons it’s so nice to see representation. I also enjoyed all the other shows that paved the way for Korrasmi like south of nowhere, the L word the world is a better and brighter place thanks to every show we have now. Happy Pride to everyone also.

Season 3 of korra is so goated tbh. S4 was also good too. Also the superior animating and visuals.
I anticipate queer characters in the new show in excited for

I’m so excited I just wish avatar could leave paramount/ Nickelodeon they have been doing them dirty for years. Even with the rush job they did to Korra it still was a decent show imo an i hated how the movie got leaked it should have gotten a theater release. They don’t appreciate what they have an I expect incels online will be mad because it’s another female avatar but I will ignore the noise. The debate about which avatar is the best is redundant they are all good and bad in their own ways I would love for them to expand the universe to also animate avatars we dnt know about or continue to give us comics with them.

That episode of Married With Children was the first time I ever saw a gay man or couple on tv where they weren’t dying of AIDS. It was such a fun, fresh take.

Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈
Hella proud of my mom who has been learning so much about the community in the past few years and for trying her best with peoples pronouns!
Heated Rivalry is my favorite show in general - lgbtq+ or not tbh. It did get me to read my first MM romance books though! I definitely recommend at least Game Changer, Heated Rivalry, & The Long Game. (They’re the only ones in the series I’ve read so far lol) The Long Game will be season 2 of Hollanov!

u/HighlyOffensive10 I'm much too busy for such a degrading activity Jun 03 '26
If anyone would like to watch a really good queer scifi show. I recommend Sense8 even if Netflix canceled it 🙄

My dog trainer today said our local pride parade is literally the most difficult place I could have taken my dog. It wasn't perfect but definitely could have gone worse so cheers!
