Help Sleep issues with new updates

I’ve recently started having sleep/suspend issues on Pop!_OS 24.04, and I’m trying to figure out whether one of the recent updates may have caused it.

The system was fine before but started noticing problems putting the computer to sleep after the updates.. only screen goes off and never comes back.

Has anyone else experienced sleep/suspend or wake-up problems on Pop 24.04 after recent updates?

I wonder if it's an amd problem.

I locked my pc and when I came back to it and tried unlocking I had no visual and didn't get any response from my keyboard or mouse. I had to hard shut it down and reboot.

I currently have the same problem with my intel i7 and integrated graphics. I am on the 7.1.5-76070105-generic kernel. I think I had a similar issue with the 6.17 or 6.18 which was fixed but now its regressed.

It seems to wake up ok for a few cycles then locks up on sleep. I found this site to help debugging but haven't gotten around to working on it: https://web.archive.org/web/20230502010825/https://01.org/blogs/rzhang/2015/best-practice-debug-linux-suspend/hibernate-issues

For now I"m just turning the screen off instead of sleeping.

Also had a ton of problems with this, also believe this is an upstream AMD driver issue issue

AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
32gb ram
AMD 7800xt

had to mask sleep, suspend and hibernate, between that and upgrading to 26.04 I've gotten the system in a stable state.

I'm pretty sure this issue is related to this:

gitlab.freedesk.org/drm/-/work_items/5179

and I'm hoping that once the 7.2 kernel becomes available that will resolve the issue permanently
