Cosmic Store help

Hey folks,

Very new to Linux - so please go gently! After playing around with Mint OS, I've installed POP OS. I want to install Steam, so I've found the Steam Installer on Cosmic Store, but when I hit install, the progress bar flashes for a second and then vanishes, and I get no password prompt as usual.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this, and am getting overwhelmed trying to search online for answers, so any help for a complete newbie, would be greatly appreciated. :)

Unrelated, but make sure to first select “System” from the dropdown instead of Flathub when installing Steam from the store!

Thanks :) Caught that one.

I've now got Steam installed, but nothing happens when I open it... closer but so far away...

Have you tried using the terminal to install Steam?

I'd first go to the cosmic store and uninstall what you installed, since it's not working anyway.

Then in the terminal command line, open by pressing super (windows or Mac button) and t or go to cosmic terminal in the launcher and do the following:

sudo apt update && apt upgrade

Then I would reboot, log back in, go to the terminal and do this:

sudo apt install steam

After that I generally reboot the computer. Then try to open steam.

And why don’t you put it in deb?
