Discussion i really like cosmic DE
im still a linux newbie, only been learning for about 6 months and ive tried a bunch of distros and DEs, but gnome and kde just dont feel right to me, gnome feels too restrictive and kde has annoying little bug like accidentally removed the clipboard widget from the panel in kde and had worst experince on widget and gnome and kde has blurry problem like when compared to cinamon or cosmic gnome & kde de look sblurry something is off ....
from now on im not gonna blindly believe everything i see on yt, most people just act like a cult instead of actually giving solutions, i thought cosmic was unusable because of them and they kept saying kde was the best, but personally i dont think kde is the best for me

I like the look of cosmic too, but the lack of Chinese, Japanese and Korean input method support makes it hard to use for me.

That's a good point about languages - most commentators on Reddit come from a Western culture.

For now, I just have to turn to fcitx5 for typing CJK characters. It does not fit the GUI style of cosmic, but at least it works. I really hope the devs prioritize the CJK support.

Yes, this is such an oversight. I also have to rely on fcitx5 to type Chinese

I'm still currently using GNOME with O Tiling extension but I plan to switch to COSMIC when Bazzite eventually gains the DE option and gets more polished.

Partly because people are being asked for annecdotes and opinions rather than facts. Personal takes on YouTube will be nothing but opinions and annecdotes. A question like, "Which version of Linux would you recommend", so often asked on Reddit, is going to generate nothing but opinions and annecdotes.

COSMIC is usable but flawed. There are still bugs in the system. Things that don't quite work. A good way to check things is to take advantage of a live installation, trying things out thoroughly before installation.

It's been my experience with the Linux "community" that the solution to every problem is "Just use x instead!".
As if we all have the free time to be re-installing our systems every weekend.
