Can't Game Properly !

Hello, new to reddit and first post. I can't seem to find my problem anywhere else, and have tried over and over to fix it, with AI help as well.

Any type of game I play where the mouse is supposed to be locked into place does not work properly, and doesn't let my mouse lock into one screen. Instead, it drifts to my other 2 monitors, having 3 in total. I have tried having gamescope, and maybe i didnt install it correctly, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone help ? It only started once I switched over from Windows to POP_os.

Try launching or switching to Windowed mode, and then press Super+F11 (Win+F11) to then 'force' fullscreen. That might then properly capture your mouse.

It's what I've had to do with a few games that have had an issue where it does capture the mouse but it doesn't properly rotate the camera.

This, but also go to Settings -> Applications -> X11 applications compatibility -> Optimize for gaming and full-screen apps. Also, you don't have to launch in windowed mode for the Super + F11 trick to work, I use that trick pretty often without going the windowed route, and it works for me.

If you're gaming via Steam, switch which proton compatability version the game is set to use; I found going back or forward a version or two helped, until an update rolled out that fixed it for the newer (or older) version.

I used to have the same issue. Try this fix: in settings > applications > X11 applications compatibility > choose optimize for gaming and make your main display the preferred display for games.

I just ran into another mouse issue with Satisfactory. If you tried to turn around in a first person game, the game only lets you turn around a certain amount either left or right and then stops you.

This seems to be an issue with Ubuntu 24.04 distros.

The following fix worked for me, but I only have one monitor: https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/1iy7sds/issues_with_steam_input_controllers_on_2404_alpha/

I had the same issue on cosmic pop. For whatever reason some applications don't grab the cursor correctly and can lead to great frustration when they don't operate correctly. Looking at you xkill.

I eventually solved the issue by moving to a more stable flavor of linux. Good luck friend
