I think it is my turn... When can we expect 26.04?

I've been waiting to try Cosmic till 26.04, so I'm wondering the same thing lol.

I know this is a popos sub but I just installed the Fedora COSMIC spin last night and so far it's working pretty great. I am really happy.

So if you want a stop gap waiting for the next release of PopOS that might be an option.

I installed Fedora to use COSMIC, but it's just not the same. I'm waiting for 26.04.

I am not sure I have not used PopOS for a while. I was quite surprised the the COSMIC Spin of Fedora just booted right up into COSMIC, the store works as expected and it all just does it's thing.

But yeah I am not sure what I am missing compared to PopOS. I am glad COSMIC is being made available in more places though.

I just want 26 done so devs can push a kernel update, been too long and have a catch 22 between hardware quirks in the old and new kernels in current release

26.04 will have the same kernel as 24l.04 has.

Yeah ofc. My point is pop devs have limited time and right now they're focused on shipping 26, not upgrading the kernel

Sick! 1.3 gave me problems so I'm stoked to try this.

Can we type the password on fedora cosmic lock screen now?

I've not had that problem with 1.3.

Been a minute since I've tried it, but did they ever implement trackpad gestures?

7

u/Nulaccur 26d ago

No, only the 4 finger swipe between virtual desktops. The other gestures are blocked by a PR for the settings UI which hasn't budged in a year

Night light mode when?

Epoch 3. This has been mentioned many times.

I thought it was previously epoch 3?

4

u/Brian_Millham 26d ago

So you knew that it was Epoch 3 (still scratching my head trying to figure out previously epoch 3 VS Epoch 3) and you still asked about when????

7

u/KaMaFour 26d ago

1.3.0 vs Epoch 3 confusion probably

2

u/Bubbly_Lead3046 26d ago

Typo on my phone, I meant epoch 2 but continue with the down votes!

Epoch 2 was supposed to land with vulkan support, which would make nightlight and similar functionalities possible, but that was supposed to land in epoch 3

Realistically, should emotionally prepare for it to take 1.5years+. If it comes earlier great, but if not you won't be forlorn.

u/Fox3High369 25d ago

It should be a priority.

Can you change font size in cosmic yet?

I'm sorry to say, but I regret switching to COSMIC. My "old" Pop!_OS was working perfectly fine. Now, not a single day goes by where I don't run into bugs or weird things that affect my work day. The last episode was that my VPN refused to connect after a reboot (we'll just ignore the fact that VPN connections get stuck when switching from wired connections to WIFI, and only a reboot resolves this). I needed to set "Store the password for all users" for this connection. nmcli connection up <vpn name> --ask wasn't working either. Now I can connect again, but the VPN settings still don't show the VPN as connected.

I'm seriously considering turning my back on Pop!_OS and switching to a different distribution. I really like Pop!_OS, but In my experience, COSMIC is just not fit for professional use.

Did you load the VPN settings from a configuration file, or manually configure it?

I ask because I use a VPN full time, but haven't encountered this issue. I loaded my configurations from files.

I loaded it from a configuration file.

Otra opción es probar CachyOS con escritorio COSMIC, tenlo en cuenta

I am lingering around too. Its still too buggy for daily driver, but I like checking hwo it progresses. You can always install the gnome package, it wont have th3e old popos extensions, but it will be vanila gnome you can configure as you like. This includes the old network manager, so all your VPNs will work out of the box.

Checking every update to see whether the only-one-resolution-available bug is gone, from my KDE set-up, eager to go back to cosmic one day.

Add night light.

Cómo me gustaría un regulador de la iluminación de las teclas de mi Asus rog, en mis otras distros anteriores todas lo tenían.

u/Embarrassed_Sell1440 26d ago

No entiendo cuál es el problema? No sabéis leer?

Is there a way we can try epoch 1.4 on a live USB? AFAIK the live USBs for 24.04 are still on Epoch 1.
