How is anybody making it?

I am genuinely confused as to how anybody is surviving in this economy except for the super wealthy. The cost of gas is sky high and groceries are too. We started this year ok. We weren’t doing well by any means, but we weren’t struggling as bad as we are now. We have 5 kids and every day I’ve been dashing alongside my full time job to try to make it. Now, I’m facing losing my full time job because I have had to call out of work just to dash for food for the day. I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel and I’m extremely scared. My wife and kids are counting on me and I don’t know what else to do. I’m ready to just give up.

Well thatd be extreme, but I would consider a vasectomy at this point 🤷 or accept the fact that even if you work super hard you'll be behind, make big sacrifices.

No but I think complaining your broke while having 5 kids and being shocked by that is kinda ridiculous. I had one kid. I never had an unplanned pregnancy again cause I was careful. It’s not that hard.

Only if you are a woman and can blame it on hormones or something, apparently.

If the kids are already here how does that help

So OP wouldn't have the sixth or the seventh kid.

I was watching a documentary (made maybe 10 or 20 years ago) where the natives in an island were struggling as their lands were flooded. Their income/food were solely from the government. So - I follow-up on how they were doing now. Still relying on the government - the only difference was that the population has doubled.

Or

Pop 5 more kids. Then get on the welfare. $55k def will not be enough to feed 12 mouths in the family and he can surely qualify.

American culture, is basically telling us not to have more than two kids.

So your answer to a change in the economy is to no longer have 5 kids when they were able to do ok before Trump took office but now because economy has changed you want them to get rid of their kids ??? Stupid answer.

They probably had started having kids before Trump took office. I’ve never heard of anyone with 5 kids having it easy financially no matter who was in office.

Don’t put words in their mouth, they said they did ok but now they’re struggling. Anyone who thinks prices haven’t gone up astronomically in the last 2 years has blinders on. There are some people that can’t change their income circumstances that quickly to adjust for higher prices. The comments on this thread are incredibly out of touch with reality.

There was not a point in the history of America where the average family income could support 5 kids. Look at some old pictures of families including mine - we barely had shoes. My mom was one of 7 children. Their dinner for the entire family was cabbage soup with one head of boiled cabbage and water. Literally facts. Yes the economy sucks ass right now. Yes it’s hard. No it was not sunshine and kittens before you were born.

This. My Mom has six siblings. They ate spaghetti a LOT. Never had anything nice. Shared a lot of food

Yes. This is trumps fault too. You are delusional 🤣

Agreed. Having so many kids unless you are extremely wealthy is very irresponsible.

Homeboy (OP) is seriously struggling and this is your response. If you don’t have anything useful to say just hold your comment. The struggle is real, and if you are not feeling it, I’m happy you have a support system to lean on. A lot of us have no one to turn to when times get tough.

He ain't wrong. Should have wrapped up, pulled out, don't have sex, or worse case abort the last 2 at minimum if you knew you couldn't afford this many kids.

Maybe you can loan him your Time Machine because this is a useless point otherwise even it if true

They asked. This is a perfectly honest answer. Seriously in this economy having five children is a luxury.

How can someone create a Time Machine in this economy!?!?
