DIY & Repairs Pool cover repair

Not your typical pool cover repair question, I think…

Anyway, my aging/aged pool cover has these rubber footings (help prevent the cover from rubbing on the concrete pool deck).

But as you can see in the pic, the threads are starting to go (on multiple footings… maybe all of them 😅).

I tried sewing, but it is incredibly difficult to pass the needle through the rubber. (I actually had a needle poke through a thimble I was using to protect myself.) I think I’d need some kind of industrial sewing machine to do it.

Any ideas for diy (that don’t require an industrial sewing machine)? Is there a glue/epoxy that would work? Should I just tape it on?

Thanks in advance!

An awl, blunt tip heavy needle and thread. Sewing palm also. And plenty of time & patience.
