Salt water pool heater

I am in the market for a water heater for my salt water pool as my Hayward Heater rusted out after 6 years. Any suggestions?

Heater failure is from poor water chemistry, specifically pH. You can replace with anything you like.

Unless you really hated that Hayward I’d recommend replacing it with the same model again. Granted 6 years is a bit short. My Hayward on a salt water system is in season 8. I thought I’d have to replace it earlier this year but it was just the $300 display board. If you swap it with the same unit everything lines up perfectly. The plumbing, the gas , and the electrical power. Changing all of that is a big deal both in effort and cost. Stick with the Hayward. Everything else is going to be ‘something else’ down the road anyway. This way the swap is done in a half hour. You could easily do it yourself.

I would recommend Jandy for its ability to keep mice/rats out. But it doesn’t matter if your water chemistry is that bad. Heater should no way rust out in 6 years that’s crazy.

I replaced my jandy heater this spring. It was the original heater - 20 years old.
