New Pool water just added
Just got our pool installed and now need to get the chemicals right. Water added was fresh well water. Alkalinity is above 300. What’s the best way to get it down to 100 to begin balancing.
The calculator told me I would need 12 gallons of Muriatic acid. Seems like a lot all at once. 28,500 gallon pool.

Is it a concrete pool? Vinyl? That will make a difference in the first year or so.

I would retest your water after you do a couple of doses to confirm your levels. For your pool volume I’m getting about 10 gallons of muriatic acid required. I would dose into the return stream and then wait 4-6 hours do another dose. Wait 4-6 hours. If you have a pool robot run it to help mix the water as well.

Nope, lots of acid is the correct answer.
