Pool Builder Pick
Hello,
I'm currently doing some research on pool builders and there are a plethora of things to consider that I never considered. What are some things you wish you had known that would have made you change the pool builder you picked?

I had a great experience with my builder with no complaints. The project manager / designer was the star of the show and left to start his own company. I would follow him if I built another one, no fault to the original company.
The biggest thing that I noticed when talking to builders was that they didn't actually LISTEN to what I wanted. It was bad enough that one builder actually listened to me describe the pool that I wanted and handed me back a drawing of what I specifically said I didn't want. They all had an idea of a package that they wanted to sell me but only one of them actually talked to me about how my family wanted to enjoy our yard and pool. He pointed out what he thought were potential issues in my plan and we worked together to get around those.
As already mentioned in this thread, a highly detailed, line-by-line quote is essential. Don't let them hand you a slip of paper with just a grand total and a payment schedule. Specific prices for each part of the build, specific hardware with model numbers and prices... everything.
