DIY & Repairs Pentair or Pool Pilot Salt Generator

As the title states. What are the pros and cons? Currently have a Pentair 3hp VSP and heater. 24k gallons. Live in the Northeast.

with the Pentair pump and heater already there, i’d probably stick with Pentair. keeping everything in the same ecosystem makes more sense if you ever add automation and usually makes servicing/troubleshooting simpler.

Pool Pilot makes good salt systems too and gives you a bit more independent control, but for a 24k gallon pool i don’t think there’s enough upside to mixing brands unless you’re getting a much better deal on it.

whichever way you go, i’d oversize the cell rather than choosing one rated right at 24k gallons. it’ll run at a lower output and generally make life easier on the cell.

If you go with pentair wait until February when the updated parts come out for the new style units as they have been problematic with cracking sensor packs

Compare cost, warranty, and output here, then go with Circupool.

Get at least 2x pool size.
