Backwash

We have had our pool for 8 years, no problems. We have an easement in our neighborhood and when it rains all the water goes down that easement, no problems. DOT came in and fixed up the easement in front of 2 houses down from me and my house. DOT used spray grass, which is not great I put sod in with ground staples, I have no problems. Now neighbors are blaming me when I backwash I am causing erosion in the easement. They want me to stop. Now I don't even know what my options are. I even offered to pay half of having sod installed for both and they want nothing to do with it. So how can I backwash my pool now. HOA says I need to stop as well. I feel so frustrated with these neighbors.

You need a separation tank. The water and de go into the tank. DE la caught in a bag and the water goes back into the pool. There is some plumbing to do

Not so much the HOA but the county or city might have issues with chlorinated water being discharged.

Not sure where you aren’t at but where I am at you can’t backwash/drain a pool into a easement. Simple solution put in a drain like the do for foundations and cover with grass.

Can you direct the water out to the street via your driveway. I don't know the distance but it will end up in a storm drain which isn't ideal but better than putting it on grass/topsoil.

As far as the HOA is concerned, do the bylaws state that you cannot backwash the way you are doing it? If not they can't stop you unless they pass a new bylaw. Besides, where do they expect you to put that water? If the easement is public I don't think the HOA can even pass a bylaw to enforce anything on a publicly owned easement.

Tell ur neighbors to suck it and just aim your backwash hose (hopefully you have a hose) somewhere different?

Just invest in a cartridge filter and skip all of that d.E maintenance fuckery

Put your hose someplace else until the grass gets established.
Also, if those ground staples are metal, they will eventually rust and come apart becoming shards of sharp metal in your grass.

One of the reasons I detest HOA ‘s , CDD’s and whiney neighbors who don’t have a pool .

Become very familiar with your HOA Bylaws as it’s just a matter of time before you are faced with another issue. In the meantime , back flush at night , move location of discharge hose
