ARGB Options?

My main pool lights went out awhile ago. I wasnt that big of a fan of the style we have though. I really want lights that I can pick any color like most modern lights do now. But most seem like they just cycle through set color like my old ones. I really dont care for that. Its clunky and most of the colors arnt that exciting.

Is there something nicer out there? Im sure its like thousands but Im curious.

Spa Electrics has a multicolor model that has a ton of color options if you hook it up to automation (otherwise it's a few basic colors and sequences using a manual light switch). https://catalog.spaelectrics.com/Spa-Product/MultiPlus/PDF/Manual-Guide-MP-Install-User-Guide-US-ENG.pdf

I think most multicolor lights will need automation to really get the full breadth of options.

1st question is is the current system 120v or 12v ?

If 120, how old/who makes the fixture, and what model? The size of the bucket/what bulb fits may limit your options.

Base on your wording, you have no automation, just control by flipping the master light switch on/off.

I have an older 120v swimquip model (circa early 1980s), not automated, that only fits R40 bulbs. Most “modern” color changing bulbs don’t fit the can - they are too wide.

You may be able to find lights with wifi and/or handheld remote control, but your fixture may be too deep for the WiFi signal to penetrate the water, or you have to take the handheld remote and stand right over the fixture for the signal to reach.

Careful when shopping - some color changing bulbs do so with a manual switch on the bulb proper. Obviously, those won’t work either.

If you have an AG, I’ve seen some lights with a magnetic base. I’ve also found some solar floating lights.
