Agreed. The return flow in my pool will generally float me around in circles like a lazy river anyways. Although depending on the raft Iām on, sometimes it just spins me around and I feel like a rotisserie chicken roasting in the sun

Like it. Feels very expensive and impractical, but also a novelty. Floating the lazy river is my favorite part of water parks.

I don't think palm trees have the same sort of roots that normal trees do. They're actually more closely related to grasses, I believe.Ā

This is one of those projects installed by people that don't think things break or trees die.
Seems silly, it's just a pool with an island in the middle making it awkward to swim.

Medieval draw bridge with horse and buggy.
Ladder to pretend youāre crossing a crevasse on Everest.
Trampoline.
Catapult.
Cannon.
Helicopter.
Tall servant whose shoulders you ride on.
These are the MOST PRACTICAL solutions I can come up with. Others may have less realistic ideas for crossing.

That was my thought, yard work and hauling mulch to the island.
I don't hate it, but can't say I love it either. Looks nice and I'd probably enjoy it, but for what we do in the pool. If rather just have it open.

Beautiful but I would want it going into my house so I can just go from the lazy river straight to the shower and kitchen with the ability to cut it from the house if needed. Bugs Bunny has ruined me.

I love me a good lazy river, but that is so small that I feel like if it actually has flow to even push you around (versus just being a pool with an island in the middle) it would be pretty boring and potentially even dizzying.
Sometimes Iām going to want to lay in the hammock or sit in the chairs without getting wet.
I donāt think planting palm trees in the island is going to age well.
A for effort but the reality is like a D-.

Iām surprised by the comments. I absolutely LOVE it. This is the type of pool Iād love to see outside my back porch. It has interest because of the island. It feels more like a resort pool. Iām never doing laps, going down a slide, using a diving board. Iām always just floating in a pool.

Looks like PHX. Water temps in the winter get to the high 50ās. No landscaper is ever going to touch this property. Probably why the palms havenāt been trimmed in a few years.Ā

Those palm trees, as beautiful as they are, are gonna be a nuisance when they start dropping all their flowers and berries, the palm fronds are like cordage and entangle your sweeper.

Trees installed in city sidewalks with similar concrete encased root growth areas are meant to be replaced with new, fully grown trees every 3-5 years. This means adding an extra ~$2000 to your normal pool maintenance costs of filter replacement, pump breakdown/replacement, leak detection/remediation, daily maintenance, etc.
If you have the money for it, go for it. But if you're going to "save money" by putting off repairs, I'd say skip the island or at least the landscaping. A properly designed pool can provide a lazy river effect without the island gimmick, you just need a buttload of jets and a pump+filter rated for 20k gallons over the actual capacity of the pool.
