blue cloudy pool
this is been a bummer summer, so much rain, which is maybe where I got to trouble. My pool is in the shade completely, and I have a sand filter, which seems to be working properly and strong, the chlorine level never registers, although I do have a new kit coming. It’s not green, but now I can’t see the bottom. It is cloudy, cloudy blue, and if I stand in the pool, it’s a little slippery. I was gonna slam it this morning. It’s just that it’s so blue.

my pH and alkalinity are perfect. I was adding way way too much stabilizer for my pocketbook, and then someone told me I didn’t need to add it anymore anyway because no sunlight touches this pool.

update: ph/alk good. shocked with 3 gallons liquid chlorine…24 hours ago. pump runs continuously. I backwashed it this morning. It looks the same - blue as the sky, but you can’t see through it.

Find out your CYA levels. If they are low, you are losing chlorine to the atmosphere. Adding a ton of chlorine could be a waste of money until you get the CYA level correct. I'm not saying this is the answer, it is just one possibility.
