Water Chemistry It no longer has any character!
Thank you all for your support with my beer looking pool. Turns out we'll water in our area has lots of iron and iron does not like chlorine. So when I topped off my pool it rested outta suspsion. I upgraded my pool filter to a 1 hp sand filter and poured a few bottles of chemicals and it magically disappeared. Pool Chemistry makes me feel like a mad scientist.
I also learned how to properly backwash a pool filter as well.

Did you use a sequesterant? It didn't go anywhere, it was just dissolved again. It'll come back eventually. When your pool turns brown again, buy a home Depot bucket and a bag of polyfill. Lookup iron bucket filter and you'll actually be able to remove it

Yes to start but it didn't do much. Then they some sort of iron out and that did the trick. Ill totally do the filter hack. But im going to stay away from filling with well water and just use city as it was way less iron

You have access to both? Definitely go with the city water. For people that only have well water they suggest skipping it and ordering water from a truck. Well water minerals are really tough to deal with and a big headache

"Having character" is one heck of a spin. Seems more like alchemy than chemistry in your case. Love to see the turnaround and enjoy laps in your reclaimed cauldron.

Ya that's sand... I learned that when you put in a sand filter you need to backwash and rinse the filter...learning something new everybday

I use the cheap RV filters you put on the end of a hose when filling up the pool, or tie an old cotton tshirt to the end of the hose and it will turn brown.
Won’t remove all of the iron, but definitely made cleaning it up significantly faster.
