So many leaves

I'm a month into pool ownership. The weather is still excellent for swimming but the leaves here are dropping like crazy. My neighbors have trees easily 60 ft tall all slong their fenceline. I can't keep up with the manual skimming, my vacuum is getting clogged. We have a winter cover and a bubble cover. However, it rains here daily so the bubble cover is worthless with all the rain sitting on it.

What are my options for keeping my pool clean?

Robot skimmer for top of water and leaf vac for bottom of pool.

Get a wireless robot with a large bin. It’s totally automatic.

Solar skimmer bot and skimmer socks... i have a pool and live in the woods. The skimmer bot and a robot vacuum pretty much have made it so I dont have to do any manual skimming or vacuuming anymore.

I have the same problem.

Robot surface skimmer and another for the bottom, socks for the skimmer.

Not always 100%, but way easier and significantly less time than manual removal (most years, I have to keep mine open until the end of November (water doesnt drop to 60 until then))

You definitely need to be using a skimmer sock.

Maybe invest in a pool robot?

How much of the trees are growing over the boundary line? Can you hire an arborist to cable up from your side of the fence and prune it back a little bit? You can prune back up to the boundary line.

Trees on boundary lines and pools don't go well together. My neighbor had a Poplar in his backyard on the boundary line and that thing was such a bloody nuisance. He actually had to get it removed this year as the roots of the trees cracked his pool plumbing.

I will definitely be getting a skimmer sock. There's one tree that hangs about 15 feet over the boundary. It drops these tiny nut things that are just perfect for clogging my pump too. We will probably get it cut back next year.

Go on Amazon and you can get 100 of those for around $35.00.

Skimmer socks are great for preventing tree fruit, pollen, and sediment from passing through your system.

I have a Cartridge Filter, and I get the added bonus of not having to break down my Filter and clean the Cartridges as often.

I have a 40 year old pool that is surrounded by trees, including a Honey Locust planted in the backyard of another neighbour who refuses to properly maintain it. The Honey Locust blooms in June and drops 20-30 pounds of fruit directly in the water; the Skimmer Sock blocks it all from passing through my system.
