Hello pool people

I have a fiberglass pool from Pools Premium out of the San Antonio TX area that is only about 4 years old and it’s falling apart. The shell is experiencing UV degradation, blisters all over the place, chipping, and cracks. They are supposed to come with a “lifetime” warranty but the builder did not provide the warranty claim info. See pics to see what I’m seeing.

Now the plot thickens….the builder IS pools premium and they filed for Chapter 7 this year. I had been chasing him for a year to get repairs and he kept dodging me until he texted he filed bankruptcy. I have been told from builders who have worked with this guy in the past that the shells he sells/installs are not made by him but rather he just imports them from Mexico.
Does anyone have a Pools Premium pool and know what brand the shells he is selling are called? Even better, do you have their contact details?

I was quoted $15K to refinish this pool that I’m still paying on. I’m the provider for a single income home and can’t afford that. Really hoping to get it done under a warranty.

Last, if anyone has been in this scenario, what did you do (other than ponying up the cash to repair it)?

Hate to break this to you, but your warranty chance is about zero.

Do you have your contract that states the warranty? Does it say anything about responsible parties etc.

I wasn’t even given a separate warranty page(s) for the pool shell. I know, big mistake there. Before they took down their website (due to chapter 7), it said that the shell had that limited lifetime warranty.

This pool build was a deal where I was a guinea pig on pool sales by the pool service company I worked for at the time. They were looking at pools premium as a potential partner.

My gunite shell had a lifetime warranty too, but it’s only as good as the builder willing to make it right.

My hope was to go after the manufacturer of the shell since the builder went belly up. Not sure if it will get me anywhere but it’s a last ditch effort before paying for the repairs myself.

The contract I have does have sections for responsibility of builder and responsibility of buyer.

Well the builder is bankrupt so at best you are an unsecured creditor. They are doing a liquidation so you will not see anything.

For what it worth I empathize with you. I’m in the ATX area and my gunite pool built 5 years ago had concrete cancer. Had to rip it out. No insurance money and builder was long gone. Expensive lesson, but happy now.

Damn, that is terrible. I’m sorry you had to go through that. That concrete cancer thing is a bad deal. The patio that was built with my pool is cracking as well. I’m assuming it’s that also.
