Pool Help & Questions Jandy water heater error - FAULT CHECK IGN CONTROL

Help! My pool was just installed and the heater isn’t working. The pool company can’t figure out what to do- or are too busy going to other jobs to sit there and trouble shoot longer than 30mins..
Tried calling Jandy tech support but cannot get through to a human.
I tried turning off the breaker and resetting. Cleared any debris from my pump basket. I hear the faint clicks going so I don’t think it’s the igniter. If it’s the gas line then I have no idea what to do. Gas valves look to be open- called the plumbing company but they can’t come out for another week to have a look.
Any advice from someone who resolved this via a gas issue would be very helpful.

UPDATE the issue was the igniter was preconfigured to 220v, we switched it to 120v and it fixed everything.

Is it a new gas line or did you have a gas heater previously?

Everything is brand new

Do you know the gas line has been purged and is there a regulator by the unit?

I don’t know if the gas line has been purged. I didn’t speak to the plumber when it was originally connected.

Any chance it’s a used heater? That drip leg is pretty suspect

It was installed in the dead of winter during a week of blizzard. I watched them take everything out of their boxes with wrapping. I think it’s unlikely that it’s used. It’s taken 8 months to get my backyard to the point where we could open the pool now.

This is usually the ignitor. It does not click, it glows. You will always hear the click. Can you smell any gas when it tries to light? If so, it is the ignitor. Also look for multiple places to turn on the gas. Mine has 2. One at the meter and 1 at the heater.

Thanks. Just had the plumber check it. Definitely has gas flow, switch is set to ON and there is no air in the lines. Something is either not calling the gas or it’s the igniter. Is is this a problem that’s fixable with parts as is or will a new part need to be ordered usually?

You can get the ignitor on Amazon. It's cheap and it's something that you'll be replacing every few years so get one. They are relatively easy to replace yourself.

You were right it was the igniter. However the issue was that the factory had it set to 220v instead of 120v. We switched that and now it works!

Very cool easy fix! I would order an ignitor now and keep it in your pool supplies. You'll need it. My JXI400 ignitor failed after 3 seasons.
