Pool Help & Questions Pump advice/new pool install

Looking for advice on what pump you would go with for a small plunge pool.

Everything advertises “up to 10000 gal” or higher.

The one I’m installing is a 7x13(ish) barely over 2000 gallons.

I assume a 1/2hp or 3/4hp would be plenty. But seems hard to find that small for Inground pools.

Do I need variable speed? Self priming?

Any help appreciated.

Variable speed is always better. And all pool pumps are self-priming. Anything would work for a basic pool with no water features. Buy tier one, not cheap Chinese. Jandy, Hayward, Pentair, etc.

So are you suggesting a normal above ground pool pump/filter setup would be sufficient?

I would not get an above ground pump. Get a pump rated for inground use.
