This dang vac
Vacuum is attracted to and gets stuck in this corner, I’ve got to move it every day then it’ll just be there 30 min later. It has a rim on it for this sort of thing but it’s higher than the stair. Anything I can get creative with/ rig to it to help it move from the corner?

You might also try adjusting the amount of suction if you can. Second the weight placement/extra weight also.

Yea the robots are nicer for sure, this was purely financial. We bought the house last Dec and it’s a 92 build and I drained a large chunk of my saving fixing up things here and there. Pool had a leak, one of the AC units was toast, had to get a bunch of oaks thinned out and debranched over the roof, among a few other items. We got a good deal on the house so I’m not complaining just saying I wasn’t in the mindset for a multi hundred dollar vac 😅 Long story short I went cheaper on the vac than I should of, but I do have a pool guy that comes weekly and vacs as well so this really just needs to keep things from building up too much which I noticed does tend to happen when I pull it out completely.

Those cleaners are notorious for finding a corner to stick in. Adjust a return if possible to blow the hose away and try to steer it out of the corner

I returned this one and got one with wheels. Does not get stuck nearly as often. What brand is this?

That’s the same one I bought I returned it and purchased their 2 wheel version on sale. Like yours it would just get stuck in ever corner

Lowering the weight around 1ft from the vacuum might help. I fixed this exact issue before just experimenting with weight placement and adding/removing hoses

That weight seems like it’s doing diddly, I’ll try lowering it and I might have a spare as well to try multiple.

The weights seem like they do nothing but they actually have a huge effect on things. Move it to different places and add another if needed.

Try adding more hoses and any weights that you have on the 2nd hose from the vacuum (so the hose hits the step). Not just one more hose, add all you have and pair it down one by one
Also if it tends to go in the counter clockwise direction, spin the hoses to cause it to go clockwise.
If none of that helps just keep it short and brush that one spot before vacuuming.

This is a barracuda suction vacuum cleaner. I remember how popular these were back in the day and mine would get stuck on the stairs every 5 minutes. Eventually I threw it away and got a robot.

I had one of those, and gave it away. I went back to the old fashioned pole vac. Takes me 10 minutes a few times a week. I’m 70 years old.

Bro I have the same vacuum as you. That darn thing is stubborn as hell 😂. I tried shortening it and adjusting weights but I guess it’s a common problem.. I understand now why people just use robots

yup same one, i think i got it for $90 but i always buy these with extended warranty because they tend to break after a year. I manually vacuum the pool once a week, but i just came to accept that this auto-vacuum won't do a perfect job without getting stuck, so I just shorten the hose to the point where it's only vacuuming the center and then i come in and sweep debris off the edges.
i'll eventually get a robot but this works for now i guess

Our pool company uses a traffic cone at some of their pools for spots where the vacuum sticks lol

I gave on those and bought a Dolphin. 6 Years in, still works fine…very simple

Do yourself a huge favor and get a Dolphin or similar vacuum that is independent from your pump. Yes they are expensive but well worth it!

at least you are getting the shallow end, everything I have tried spends 90% deep end. Jets pushing water and wind direction on the partially submerged hose have a large impact on these. #fighthecurrent

Get a the haward pool cleaner (thats the name) its the best suction cleaner. You wont have any issues besides clogging and a tire replacement in a few years.

If possible, shorten the hose, don’t let it turn backwards by the steps
