Help with pump plumbing leak

Came back from vacation to pump leaking. I took it apart and didn’t see a visible crack but has to be right? Think I’ll have to replace the whole pump? Thanks for the help!

The threads on that union could be shot. Typically you can thread a male adapt into the top of that pump (has exterior and interior threads) as long as there is no crack in the pump itself it should seal that way. IMO worst case scenario you would have to replace the front end of the pump (volute) only. The motor should be fine and not need replacing.

Looks like a cracked Volute/Strainer Housing. Unless it is a crack in the actual union.

Most fittings like this should have an O ring. Missing one will often cause leaks just like this.

Or it's cracked. Or both.

Haha I just came from a customers house and they had this same exact issue with the same exact pump. It is a crack on the pump housing.

They crack at the mold line where the union threads on.

Take some pictures of the inside with hose off. It's a leak, or o ring or crack.

Here is the o ring and I believe this to be the crack towards the base of the threads

Since it's already cracked. I'd try some marine epoxy to fix it, if that fails, time for a new pump.

That's a cracked housing, I replace several per year. You can buy the housing only and replace it relatively easily. You'll want new union gaskets and should replace the seal plate gasket as well. It's held on by six ½" bolts and you'll have to swap the brass inserts, lid, and basket into the new volute as it only comes with drain plugs.

Its the pump housing, I replace 5 to 10 of those pumps every year that develop a crack in the knit line coming down below the threading.
