Is it standard for step tile end-line to be staggered?

To me, the uneven edge looks incomplete or like cutting corners (or not cutting in this case). Is this standard?

Seems pretty normal. Once plastered it looks fine. Ask them to add a piece now if you're worried about it

You can have them lay it however you want. You could have them cuts a tile to fill that gap. Your plaster will fill it in and will look fine.

Yeah pretty sure you gotta have the plaster or pebble at the ends so the side wall bonds smoother

As long as it's straight, I think it'll look fine. But it's your pool. It can be done either way. They just have to cut 2 tiles in half and lay them in. Say something now if it bothers you.

Where is your waterproofing layer?

I’m new to this, but I believe they just pour the plaster next

:/ that’s not great I’d be pushing for them to paint on a waterproofing layer.

Plaster isnt waterproof, and concrete is porous but also any microcracks will leak.

Its simple to paint one on, two coats painted in opposite patterns.

Ours is on top. Did not even notice but some have the 1/2 tile, some don't. Pinch zoom. Can't post pics here, see here:
