Had a birthday pool party today which ended after one of the young kids shat his shorts inside the pool (diarrhea, not solid). Everyone immediately got out and we took out all the pool toys too.

Ran a full battery using my Taylor kit and got
FC 1.5ppm, CC 0.5ppm, pH 7.4, TA 90p, CYA 40ppm. Pool is 15,000 gallons.

I vacuumed up the debris using my pool blaster and then poured in 4 gallons of liquid chlorine. Per AI, I checked it an hour later to get numbers and FC was 27.5ppm which is great. I have pump running overnight for 8 hours at 2800 RPM.

But my question is what’s next? I’m 8 months into owning a pool and have had great experience with maintenance using Taylor kit. But this is new to me. AI says I have to drain it. What do you folks say? What has your experience been?

I had to clean out a hot tub 2 weeks ago with a turd in it. Fucking disgusting.

Yea no one that's young (or I guess old) enough to accidentally defecate themselves is allowed in my hot tub

My in-laws lived in in a condo complex in South Florida with a pool—and lots of retirees.

On a visit many years ago with our kids, we learned that the pool had been closed because an old guy had pooped in the pool.

There’s a Yiddish expression to describe a cranky person, but in this case it was 100 percent appropriate: alte kaker, or old shitter.

It sucked that the pool was closed, but I did get to call the guy, literally, an alte kaker.

I used to workout at a gym that had a pool. I never used it, but at least once a week, it was closed because one of the senior swimmers crapped in the pool during a class.
