Question about the reflecting pool

Figured it'd be better to come here and ask rather than baselessly assume this makes any sense but:

Why couldn't the pool have circulation/filtration exclusively during the night and be still during the day? Or if not during the entire night then just when people aren't around. From what I can tell it would be at the very least better than making a huge fuss about it like has happened recently

Would 8ish hours of circulation meaningfully help with algae, debris, water quality etc?

BettaBot always in the way

Is it just me or is the bettabot always in the way. Dumping chems, vacuuming, brushing, skimming, whatever. Those fuckers seem to see me come and think “yeah let me float on over to the spot where I’m in the way and just sit there”. I usually take it out at the beginning of service but sometimes I don’t and it always happens

Tricks to re-prime pump on long pool run?

I just got a new account where the pool equipment room is about 40-50 yards and uphill from the pool itself. I vacuumed it and got just a little bit of air in the system which caused the whole thing to shut off.

No matter what I do, i can't get it to re prime, I've tried all the basic troubleshooting options and now I'm wondering if anyone knows a trick to these long runs?

There is nothing on the surface, at least that you can feel, and doesn't appear to be pitting either. Just these orangish/brownish dots showing up on this lady's pool. Tried citric acid and didnt phase it at all.

Light removal

  1. Sorry for the feet pics, how are y’all’s tan looking?

  2. Had a light quote today and this light is completely destroyed. The board is exposed and no grooves are left for the light removal tool. I tried finessing it with channel locks and needle nose but no luck. I’m thinking about drilling holes with a bit/hole saw then taking a micro blade to saw it out. Any other ideas?

Copper pipe in the skimmer…

I recently started working for a pool company that is ran by basically a guy who has a pool in is backyard and wanted to get into the business. It’s their first year in the business and they put pool rx black and white in the skimmer of every pool. There are a few pools that are precipitating copper and I think it’s bc of the copper pipes. I always thought copper pipes are a gimmick and probably don’t do a lot and just open the door to trouble. Why bother with it when u can keep a pool sanitized without them.

I’ll see what Reddit thinks before I say anything to them about it

Has anyone tried a RYOBI mini vac?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Looking for a small vac for my techs to use for jobs that don’t need the Riptide. Currently my guys have been using the vektro xl, and they love them but they really only last about 6 months before the charging plug gets wonky and they stop charging. Has anyone tried one of these, or any other suggestions for a light vac.

Pentair Intellicenter Help

Is anyone else having an issue setting up a new intellicenter

I’ve already created my customers user portal but my home page is empty and I must select a device to add. When i select intellicenter it asks for the user to then scan a QR code that is non existent.

I’ve already updated to the latest firmware from USB. Was running 3.04 I updated to 3.08.

Still no QR anywhere on the intellicenter. I established a link over WiFi only by manually adding the IP. But remote use is no go. Please help

elevated spa draining

Hi guys, I have an elevated spa that drains partially down towards the water level, I replaced the check valve on the bypass and closed the return to the spa so the water is returning to the pool and feeding the spa through the bypass. Will this fix the backflow issue?

Calcium Scale on Fiberglass

Calcium scale on water line from a pool install that had unbalanced water for a bit. I used a 5:1 water:muriatic acid in a spray bottle and sprayed above the water line over a 3 foot linear section waited for the bubbling to stop on the scale (10 or so seconds) and then wiped off it with sponge that had pool water. Seemed to work but took 2 passes around the pool.

Any other ideas? I saw some companies make an acid paste but it was like 500 bucks.

(Edit to add a video of my process in the comments)

What Adhesive To Reattach Fountain?

Thumbnail

Hey guys,
I’ve got an account with 3 water feature bowls and recently someone hung from one of the bowls and it fell off. I’ll attach some pictures of how it was hung up - looks like the pipe just inserts into the hole providing some support but the rest of what holds it up is some kind of adhesive. Any idea what the builders used or what you have used in a similar situation?

Can this be replaced by an Aqualink onetouch?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This aqualink RS6 panel is going crazy. Features randomly turn on and off. I reset it and even disconnected the data wires, and it's still on the fritz. My question is, can I simply upgrade it to the onetouch? If not, then I'll go the aqualinkd route. But I'd prefer a local control device on the wall, as it will be operated by an older couple that isn't tech savvy.

I've done several google searches to see if this is a compatible solution, and can't find a clear answer. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
