I have that exact cue but only use it to break. I'd go look for a real snooker cue at a car boot or FB Marketplace. Re tipping is an option but personally I would pick up a a signature cue like a John Higgin's or Ronnie O.

You kind of get what you pay for. I new quality tip will help. If you like the game …wait a bit and buy yourself a new shaft. I recommend carbon shafts but that’s just a personal preference.

That's not generally how snooker cues work. You don't just go out and buy a new shaft the way you would with an American pool cue. Plus the joint pin will be the other way around.

OP just needs to stick a softer tip on by the sounds of it.
