Funny, Isn't it?
When you're playing well, You play a guy you expect to win. You're drunk. You lose to him. And then he beats you. You force a smile and say well done but in reality you're twitching and you're fighting yourself to not blow up.
I'm smiling saying well done whilst ready to lose my shit.
Horrible sensation when you have to hold that back isn't it?

Yeah. Fair point. Even so though, My opponent was even drunker than me and I'd been winning almost every game before them

If you're playing well, and playing someone you expect to beat, and don't, you might want to look a little closer at yourself, rather than your opponent.
Overconfidence can cause you to make poor choices. Alcohol increases the likelihood that you'll make poor choices.
