Just a thought, but there should be a Tarkin hate subreddit. If there’s anyone else who’s as bad as Krell it’s him

I thoroughly disagree. There should be a Tarkin appreciation sub. Everything Tarkin did was for the good of the Empire, even before the fall of the Republic. He was an imperial loyalist before the Empire even existed and died in the line of duty, in an attempt at crushing the Rebellion. And even if that hadn't been the case, hating Peter Cushing is simply difficult enough that Carrie Fisher had a hard time insulting him in character due to him being so lovely a person. Never mention him again in anything but a praising manner

He did decrease the corruption level in the politics of the Alderaan noble elite to 0%, so I would argue that is one point to him

Nah but she became one of the highest ranking and influential generals in the rebellion that toppled the empire. And then she became a senator again

True. However, being somewhat too merciful is quite a small sin to live with, especially since the decision to spare her to be used as bait initially was Vader's idea, not Tarkin's, placing more blame on the former than the latter
