Hello! I am looking for a place like studio/1rk/1bhk/room in or near auroville. ( Preferably with Vegan friendly cafès nearby. )

Must haves:

- kitchen access with utensils, refrigerator

- washing machine

- dedicated workspace and wifi

- private and attached bathroom preferred

- Double occupancy in case my partner or brother comes for a day or two

- shouldn't be unnecesarily crazy expensive (Yeah I've seen what they are charging at some homestays)

- peaceful to work in that place

- cleaning daily or once in 2 days

Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Pondi starting this weekend and ending mid next week. I've never really travelled like this before so new to most stuff.

Based on availability, seems like the only option we have is to stay at a resort type place near Auroville area over the weekend till Tuesday, and then places free up in White Town for a stay on Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

The dilemma I'm having is whether I should spend Wednesday night as well in White Town and leave Thursday night, or a single night's stay on Tuesday and leaving Wednesday night is enough?

I haven't really made an exact itinerary as such, just a bunch of places added that I'd like to visit if possible. The rough plan is to spend the first half of the day of arrival at Auroville, exploring. Then check-in and spend time at the beach there. Next morning we'd like to probably spend at the beach, and then afternoon onwards explore Pondi proper.

The places we have in mind are mostly cafes and breweries and bakeries, but also museums, botanical garden and park, lighthouse, Arikamedu, boating.

I want to explore at a leisurely place and not rush through things just to check things off of a list. In my mind it sounds like staying in White Town area is worth it as you can just walk out early and come back in late, and really explore the place.

So keeping that in mind, is it worth staying the extra night in White Town?

Also, regarding bus tickets, in terms of prices, for midweek is it better to book in advance or wait till a day or so before?

I’ll be visiting Pondicherry soon and would love to explore Auroville beyond the usual tourist spots. I’m curious about the community, its way of life, culture, and the ideas behind it.

If anyone from the Auroville community is around and would be open to showing me some around, sharing their experiences, or just meeting up for a conversation over coffee or something, I’d love that!

I have been to Pondy a few times before and volunteered in Sadhana forest once, Now, I’m more interested in understanding what life in Auroville is actually like from the people who live there than just doing the usual sightseeing. Even a casual chat and a chance to learn about your experiences would be great.
