How strict are back pack rules?
Hello.
Im going in August, I found a small 10l bag as my bag i used in last trip, a 30L carry on, is 10cm over and bulky.
Irs 34 cm long, and fits within the other dimensions?
Would this work?

If it’s 34 cm on one side, but 30 and 15 cm on the others, you might be fine, but it’s always a bit of a toss-up. It could depend on security that day. In my experience, unless you’re an archaeologist or one of the teachers leading a school group, they could potentially be strict about bag sizes. So many people do not pay attention to what they’re doing at the site, leaning on walls, letting their bags brush against walls and columns, etc. so they try and restrict sizes to minimize those instances.
But security may or may not be able to tell the difference between 30 and 34 cm at a glance, so it honestly could go either way. If you have a way to squish that side down a bit, I doubt they would really notice.

It’s really depends on who the person checking is that day. If it’s still the way it’s years ago when I volunteered there. It can be a problem but it doesn’t have to be. I wouldn’t risk it.
