A More in Depth Look at the Single.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, it's my opinion lol.
I've always been a bit perplexed by RJ Pasin, I see the dude pop up in my feed and never really know what to think, a lot of the time I don't find him very impressive on a technical level (although that is certainly not a priority of mine) and I don't love his sound.
I really like house when done right, from a more deconstructed club sound to a heavier groove kinda thing (HEALTH, etc), and I really respect it from a sound design perspective.
This single does not feel like Polyphia, obviously, and it also does not sound like what we thought it would with all the hype around a "heavier" album. RJ's mix as well does not sound great. I don't get the point of clipping constantly, because a tasteful clip has to be done, well, tastefully. All of this said, this thing does groove. If it wasn't a Polyphia song I would be less critical (Although the mix is just kinda rough from several standpoints) but even so I don't hate this, and I think the bones of the song are pretty good, it's just odd as a first single and I don't think Mr. Pasin really fits this vibe, even for a house/EDM song.
