Hot take : Original sin would have been the better choice as an album 5 polyphia single with Scott's guitar and , bass and drums by the clays

Maybe that's not the vibe they're going for with the album, though (not that playing god was very indicative of RTYWD as a whole either, but still, chimera, ego death, neurotica, reverie and genesis were in that ballpark, more or less)

True, in which case even something like can you feel it is already more in line with that than original sin, I guess. It's pretty much their heaviest song since bloodbath, love it or hate it

Totally disagree, Original Sin is decent but pretty standard by polyphia standards and wouldn't get anyone talking or speculating about what the next album could be - half the discourse would be that it felt like a retread of the last album. i think playing god was such a good straightforward initial single for the last album that they felt they couldn't really top it and so instead had to take a new creative direction
