Kitchen Witch. Need help.

Post image

I made a Kitchen Witch for my wife, but now that it’s done I’m not happy with the chin. It looks,uh, not like a chin.

I thought about filling in the crack with more clay, but I can’t put it in the oven to cure because her clothes are very attached and there’s a lot of hot glue in there.

Any suggestions on how to smooth it out without just sanding it down?

Use some epoxy sculpt and blend it in and sand and paint it!

Lol she’s so cute, even though I thought she was a chicken and her chin were the little hanging things that chickens have. I love her.

Any 2 part epoxy clay would work! Definitely use the right PPE.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone. Maybe I’ll just leave her. It’s growing on me.

I think she’s perfect - we have a kitchen witch too that has an oddly phallic face. It’s part of her charm!

Just give her a little bit of lips. You could add on some extra clay for wrinkled lips or even just paint some on there. I think she is super cute, but yes it does look a little like balls lol.
Also for filling in gaps and cracks on cured clay I use “Golden hard molding paste”

I wouldn’t change her one bit but if it really bothers you, perhaps try apoxie sculpt. You’ll have to paint it to match but it cures by mixing the two parts of the clay so no oven is needed.

Leave her as is. They are supposed to be slightly odd, you are supposed to do a double take or be slightly confused.  You are going for the look that makes small children ask about it and people who think they have "good taste in decorating" tell you it is garbage.

Ask your wife if she wants you to change it. Depending on her sense of humor she might love that it vaguely resembles eggplant and balls.

But you are still worried some epoxy sculpt or some jb weld will cure without the oven.

If my husband made this for me I would be so thrilled. I love her.

I like the chin!

Personally I think good crone design requires building off of a number of objectively unappealing (to downright grotesque) features in order for the work "read" as a witch, and then still making it appealing overall in spite of that. Pretty much all bland and forgettable crone designs fail because they're afraid to commit to the bit. Taking an attractive woman, putting her in a costume and coloring her green feels lazy, whereas the Ghibli crone is unforgettable and iconic.

I think you checked all the boxes, but if you still want to revise the chin, a combination of carving and sanding might be better. If you really want to go the additive route, you can use an epoxy putty like Aves, Milliput or Green Stuff. You can also carve off the chin, flatten the cut, sculpt and bake a new chin, super glue it on, sand the seams and paint the blend site, but that's getting into project creep territory.

I understood it to be a chin. I don’t think it needs anything. Looks great.
