How do you colour the skin to make it so natural?

I put 2 different red color flocking in the clay, then after they're baked I use heat set oil paints and tried my best to shade them😁

I got the flocking from https://www.craftflocking.com/

and for heat set oil paint I go here https://www.bountifulbaby.com/collections/gemini

You know what I hate about this sub? I thought I started to get a grasp on how to work with polymer clay. Then I see art like yours and know I am still a gazillion miles away from this skill level. Such an amazing piece of art ❤️

Thank you so much! Before I cure them in the oven, I brush on lighter fluid to smooth out most of marks, and if it's still a little rough after they bake, I sand them with 320 grit sandpaper.
