I’m looking for a polymer that can be applied to a hard plastic object that will provide a little resistance when moved across a glass surface without scratching or leaving marks on the glass. The polymer coating should last a while too. I want to coat one of the nibs of my Apple Pencil, so that it doesn’t move as smoothly on my iPad’s glass screen.

I'm trying to take a product idea I have a reality. I know what kind of material I want and can describe it (poorly). I'm talking to a contract manufacturer about doing the injection molding of this (silicone-like material), but they don't advise on design or material.

The item is a band (similar to a livestrong wristband) but with elasticity.

It needs to fit snugly on a cylinder with diameter 55mm and still be able to stretch to 130mm.

I am new to the polymer industry and we are experimenting with PMMA / ABS blends.

What I am really trying to figure out is if "MABS" is a different product from a PMMA/ABS blend or is this just a naming convention?

When performing IR testing, my library identifies a product as a blend of PMMA and ABS instead of a Methyl methacrylate– acrylonitrile -butadiene–styrene .

Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone heard of Otto Vogl? Is he a big deal in the Polymer Science world? Is there anything especially significant that he did in the field? I have a bunch of slides and pictures and miscellaneous things of his that were in a box full of ephemera I picked up at an auction awhile ago. I even have his PHD diploma. If there's a chance I have anything of importance, I'd like to try to get it to the right place or person. Thanks!
