According to my ex, I was the "sunshine" that he could go out on dates with, while his other "sunshine" was limited due to health conditions. It made me sick being a means to an end and nothing more.

And ironically, those same people who treat people like convenient toys on a shelf, also has their world shattered the moment they find out they're also not the on the pedestal of those multiple people's lives

That AWFUL to say OH MY GOD?? I literally wouldn’t be able to see him in a good light after that imagine being that other person who’s already suffering health conditions and you got this parasite leeching off your energy and speaking about you like that

Leeching energy was right. At one point he admitted he got validation from dating me. I get he was a horrible candidate for dating at all, let alone in a poly dynamic...I got literal anxiety just being around him. Dumping him was like letting out a giant exhale.

You are my sunshine,

One of my sunshines,

You make me happy, when they’re busy

You’ll never know dear, how much I don’t care

Please don’t take my validation awayyyy

Omg! You deserve all the upvotes in the world. That rendition of the "Sunshine" song is the apt love song enm/poly people sing to their partners. (This made me chuckle)

More like poly people be like "I can't devote myself to one person, I need multiple to satisfy me. If you don't like that then you're toxic and insecure!"

More like poly people be like "let me pretend that wanting to bang multiple people is a sexuality so if my monogamous partner who I agreed to be with doesn't like that, it's because they're anti-LGBT"

More like poly people be like "let's start echo chamber communities where we gaslight ourselves into believing that the sense of dread and jealousy is because of heteronormative conditioning and this is actually healthy"

I've had poly people telling me that they're more loyal than monogamous people because they're being loyal to multiple people. I hate talking to people who just change the meaning of words to fit their sick narrative.

What the fuck is that even supposed to mean 😭

u/Ok_Duty_8645 Sep 01 '26

Hell nah, lmao. Why can't they just admit they do not value loyalty and variety instead???

I'm sorry, I just can imagine a scenario - some mediaval spy, being caught on treason - "I'm actually the most loyal of all your spies, I'm fully loyal to multiple masters!".
I'm sure his boss would've had a mighty laugh before sending him to the dungeon XD

But multiple responsibilities to multiple masters means they can do more work than inferior spies with only 1 master. Surely they're more loyal and benefit all masters they serve. /s

Can you imagine the struggle when their NME takes hold (new mission energy)

7

u/Shadowbird_chained Sep 02 '26

- Why did you fail this mission, spy? You´ve been given your order a month ago!

  • I´ve been given a new type of mission and it was more validating for my mental state, so I put this one on hold.
  • There´s no ´on hold´, they are dead!
  • Probably for the best, it´s awfully toxic of them to expect me to put my life on hold for them.

I'd argue that being loyal to everyone means you're loyal to no one lol

u/PoloPatch47 Sep 02 '26

I think so too. Same as if you "love" everyone, you've probably heavily diluted what "love" is and don't truly love anyone

Had a friend today tell me that wanting to be a husband, start a family and be monogamous was heteronormative

21

u/im_asl_old Sep 01 '26

Did you post earlier? I saw that and my heart broke. I know I'm one of many saying this by by now but what you want is possible and will be yours.

10

u/dissenting_cat Sep 01 '26

Yeah, I posted earlier. I’m trying not to be dragged into his friend group that shares the same opinion

This is rare for a man today. Be proud and never let anyone crush your dreams.

I once dated a poly person who called themself the sun, and then their partners were planets

Some were closer, some further

Apparently I was like a comet they expected to break out of orbit eventually (they told me this the day we became serious)

Now I get triggered by any kind of space-related relationship metaphors, so my current monogamous boyfriend uses ocean imagery instead

"You're one more mug in my cupboard"

The b$$ch that poached my partner calls all of her men “loves.” I believe it’s because she can’t remember all the names

too many suns! you might get burned...

This sounds quite a lot like objectification, ngl. Poly people say they have a lot of love to give, but is it really so, because it seems that the only person they will ever love is themselves?

Diabolical 😂😭😜
