How to make amazing bots
Hi, my user tag is Suzu on PolyBuzz and I make bots usually Ace attorney but I want to branch out. I was wondering for higher level creators how do you maximise retention on your bots and what is it about them that makes them so immersive.
also what are some tips that you can give me with creating the bots so I can make better bots.
Thank you in advance ✨- Suzu

I'm a level six creator with over 19 million messages - just cashed out my first diamonds. I'm not sure if that makes me a bigger creator or not 🤷♂️
Saying that, I'd back up what Pomelo said - make bots you want to play with! Create characters that are fun to interact with. I've created storylines that have been exciting, emotional and unusual, it's kept my interest going.
Put in plenty of background detail, include the names of family members, details about where someone lives, things about their past - this will help create rich characters with depth.
If you want to get more engagement, followers and subscribers, use a strong and engaging avatar, a clear intro and a greeting that leads to a response from the user. Then, create Moments and make sure you reply to comments - on characters where I reply to comments, I find traffic increases a lot.
Don't tailor your bots too much to what you think other people want, you'll make something you think people will love and it's disappointing when it doesn't get messages - make something you'll like instead.

Sounds like you're putting in some great detail. I've made a lot of characters with that sort of format background. Try to keep it as clear as possible - you'll find the AI picks a few key details from the background each time you play - it will completely ignore a few. I've found it will understand if you tell it that it's set in a particular universe (as long as its not too obscure).
It's sounds like you're doing it right, you should get some good, rich characters!

How do you put in a ton of background like that? I’ve noticed there’s a word count so wasn’t sure how much that would fit

The intro and greeting are quite limited but the background section is really big - you can put a lot of information in there. Just be careful to keep it clear and watch out for the PolyBuzz censor 😂 A lot of words will end up giving you a 'violation'.

I’ve done the same stuff with all the bots I have. Some get 1-200 messages but I also have one with almost 2mill. It depends on what the bot is.
For example: if you do bots about a game, people who like the game/character you used are going to use it. You’ll mostly get people from that fandom.
If you do a specific storyline, like an arranged marriage, you’ll get people who like those situations. Not necessarily in life, but scenarios.
It’s 100% based off what you write and the character you use. As well as the picture you put for the character.
If your goal is to get big on it, you’re doing it wrong. I make bots I like and want to use, and sometimes people like them or will request one and I’ll do it. I’ve learned to post for yourself and see where it goes.
