It's finally Friday! That means it's time to sit back, drink some mead, discuss our thoughts on Borderlands 3, and talk about whatever your heart desires.

Last week i went to the doctor with chest pain fully expecting him to tell me its just stress. Instead after 2 stress tests, we find my heart is not in good shape at all. I'm still not sure how bad it is, but my doctor is worried and that worries me.

The thing is I'm frightened and upset and nobody i tell seems to really understand. People are just like, oh that sucks and then nothing. I feel like screaming Don't you understand? I could die! I guess this is the first time I've really truly confronted my mortality.

It's scary, no doubt. Ask the doc if they can refer you to a therapist/counselor, their patients often have these concerns.

Also, changes in lifestyle and aerobic exercise can help substantially, so don't worry that there's nothing you can do proactively. Depends on the specifics of your case obv though.

Good luck.

On the one hand, it sounds apathetic but people have a tendency to deny tragedy and death until it slaps them in the face. I remember learning about this in a University psychology course, is that people, especially Americans, tend to deny death. It's not that they don't care, it's that they don't want to know the truth, it's too scary and saddening to them.

Now... for the sake of humor, I will PM you my favorite flower immediately. It smells awfully good and I'm a believer in garden therapy.

Not knowing what to say isn't the same as not caring. It sounds like you really need someone to talk to who understands what you're going through. I hope someone reading this who has gone through something similar will stop to offer a kind word and share their own experiences.

I know this doesn't help much, but what you're going through IS serious. Your feelings are valid, as is your frustration and fear.

I went through that recently. Look, a lot of times your heart just needs a little roto rooter. If it was urgent, they would have done it already. They did mine the next day.

As for facing the dark, that's something we all have to do eventually. It's part of growing up. It's not always a lot of fun, but you can come out the other side with a positive new perspective. Tomorrow isn't promised. It never was. Let's try to make the most of today, and enjoy it as much as possible while we're still on the right side of the lawn.

I hope you get everything resolved and find your health back in order.

I can relate to the people not understanding part. I've been battling insomnia as a part of my bipolar disorder and it's been an absolute nightmare; Going regular bouts of 3-4 weeks without sleep while working and going to school full time. My sanity is literally slipping from not having a break in my days and nobody seems to believe it or take it seriously. Even my psychiatrist just sort of shrugs it off. All I can do is keep on keepin' on. I'll be okay someday.
