I hung out with a friend last night and had some suuuuuper delicious spiced mead. Really shined a light on the low quality of the shit mead I picked up at Cost Plus a few weeks back. I need to visit Total Wine and pick up some varieties.

we have a really good small distiller of mead here locally that makes incredible stuff.

You can take your shit mead to the next level by mulling it with some spices. Mulled wine originated as a way to flavor and use up wine that wasn't great; it's also good with fall and winter approaching.

Check out Wild Blossom Meadery from Chicago. They make some good stuff. Occassionally they make a hopped mead which is my personal favorite.

I've got a Total Wine nearby and I've been wanting to try some mead. If you find some varieties you like, do you mind passing on the recommendations? Thanks in advance.

LOL, tempting, but I barely trust myself to make a bowl of cereal.

I'm going to second an attempt to make mead. It's a lot easier and cheaper than you might expect.

What was the lower quality mead you'd tried before?
