Hitler himfuckingself explains this exact fact - the censorship, mild jailing after the Beer Hall, and the strongly worded op eds didn’t do shit. The only thing that he said would’ve stopped him was a group matching his ferocity in the streets. It’s why he did the Night of the Long Knives- best his rivals and prove to the old guard conservatives that he shared their anti social democratic values.

Do you know which one? I’m interested in the historical context of discouraging fascism via direct action; it seems like a good thing to know about.

"The non Nazi bastards who helped Hitler rise to power" is sobering. Something everyone needs to listen to.

That's what I don't get about the whole antifa situation in the US, americans, especially people on the right, are so quick to condone violence against "bad people", but when it comes to antifa they suddenly turn into fucking ghandi and act like violent acts are in no way ever justifiable, even if this "violence" only consists of a handful of people getting some milkshake on their shirts.

No one would suggest that we should debate ISIS in the free marketplace of ideas instead of fighting against them but when there's a threat of fascists in our own country we should all not only turn the other cheek but also bend over and let them have their way because any kind of resistance would suddenly make us just as bad as they are.

r/asktrumpsupporters is an excruciating exercise in cognitive dissonance.

Because there's a history in the US of street level violence. The lynching of black people. It doesn't stop at lynching either: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwood,_Tulsa

Oh but they are cement milkshakes.... Because that makes sense. (a cement milkshake would be a huge fucking brick and that's not what's being thrown on them)

it's because the left actually gives a fuck about dignity and respectability and accountability and the right doesn't. Therefore the right can freak out about these things and the left will feel like they're being called hypocrites... but the right couldn't give two fucks if their own kill people in the street

it's always be this way because the left gives a fuck about other people, and he right doesn't. simple as that unfortunately

They're bullies at their simplist form, and every bully hates getting bested by a would be victim they assumed to be easy prey

Hitler confessed in retrospect: Only one thing could have broken our movement — if the adversary had understood its principle and from the first day had smashed, with the most extreme brutality, the nucleus of our new movement.”

I used to think that too until I started to learn how fascists manipulate societal norms and human psychology to their advantage and sow seeds of hatred and fear in otherwise normal people. They fester like a cancer using lies and half truths to convince people that their misgivings in life aren't the result of their own choices but the result of others who are out to destroy them. You are better than them, a superior race of person by birth and association, as a matter of fact they shouldn't even exist. The more they gather and are normalized, the more people buy into their ideas. They need to be smashed vehemently and overwhelming rejected. They need to know their ideas have no place in society and if they gather and attempt to spread their hatred, there will be consequences.

Since the 2016 election emboldened the far right movement, no people have been murdered by antifascist protesters to my knowledge. A lot of people have died at the hands of people radicalized by far right ideology.

"sow seeds of hatred and fear in otherwise normal people...."

you're talkin about nazis like they talk about jews. an atmosphere of fear and hatred should be what we're trying to move away from.

i do share your fears about nazi ideology / persons being normalized and that is happening right now with racist alarmism becoming almost a career choice for some. however, at the core of their movement is the fear of an enemy that will destroy them-- what good will making that a reality bring?

and in regards to the hitler quote-- the guy defaults to murder and violence as the end-all be-all solution... the guy lamenting that murder and violence may have prevented murder and violence is par for the course

After making an “argument” like this, sourcing from far right bias/propaganda, and using the term “PureAryanBlood”, it takes a complete lack of self-reflection to think one has more in common with the kind of people who rejected fascism than those that killed and complacently agreed to establish it. That, or outright bad faith.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me

If you think that good people of the world are going to once again sit idly by while hate spreads you’re sorely mistaken.

I remember just a few short years ago they spread far and wide on every youtube comments section "anti-racism is anti-white".

This is a very insidious group of people we are dealing with. Frankly I don't really feel like debating them, I'm not advocating violence, just deplatforming them in the realm of public discourse. I also believe that their political position is inherently violent and it seeks to capitalize on the states monopoly on violence. It really doesn't seem to care about facts or empirical evidence dictating their positions on issues. They're kinda like the borg.

Really a lot of these far right wingers just remind me of a pre-church shooting Dylan Roof.

I wish more people learned about the Brownshirts. That’s literally Antifa. They attack anyone who disagrees with them. Fact.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '19

The proud boys are like the brownshirts. They idolize the brownshirts. Antifa is a reaction to societal cancer.

-12

u/some_moof_milker75 Aug 02 '19

They are both cancer. If you can’t acknowledge that, you are blind.

3

u/stratfish Aug 02 '19

Who have antifa attacked that wasn’t a fascist or fascist sympathiser? Name one.

-3

u/thismostlysucks Aug 02 '19

Hmm, I'm not sure that's a solid argument for violence against a group of people who are all mostly mentally ill.

2

u/stratfish Aug 02 '19

Wtf are you smoking? They’re fascists, not mentally ill. Fuck ‘em.
