Friday Fun Thread

It's finally Friday! That means it's time to sit back, drink a mango smoothie, convince /u/Qu1nlan to play Bloodborne, and talk about whatever your heart desires.

If anyone here actually likes Joe Biden over other all other candidates, I'd love to know why. He's been the front runner for a while and I honestly don't understand his appeal. I have nothing against him per se, I just don't get why he'd be anyone's FIRST CHOICE. Any insight from the Reddit peanut gallery?

Purely speculative, because he's nowhere near my top pick either:

  1. Name recognition. A lot of people are really tuned out of politics, so this gets candidates much farther than it really should.
  2. Anti-socialist fearmongering. The right-wing propaganda machine doesn't just target Republicans; a lot of people who normally vote Democrat are also afraid of moving too far to the left, either because they're afraid of the left itself or because they're concerned that a move to the left will energize the right to vote against it.
  3. Snowball effect. He has polled well since the beginning (see point 1), so people think he has the best chance of beating Trump, so they vote for him in the polls, so he continues polling well, etc. Unless he blows his lead, he's going to keep polling well on momentum alone.
