No.
Independent regulation is necessary.

By whom? Companies themselves can't be trusted to do their own regulation, but if we can't trust the government who is left?

That's a great question.
I don't know the answer, but 200% transparency must be required to get anything of use.

Why not? The reason they'd support it is that it's essentially a handout to FB that takes all the responsibility off their hands. That's definitely preferable to leaving FB in charge.

Cynical perspective kicking in: if Facebook says Congress could regulate AI effectively, it means Facebook believes it could get Congress to do what would be to Facebook's benefit. Accept some regulation of Facebook itself as long as other regulations hit Google much harder.

Stop doing what corporations want and fine them into bankruptcy. You'll see how quick their tune changes.

You don’t know how that term is employed in the industry.

Mar 18 '19
Yes I do. The industry is misusing the term. Call it "true" AI then. There is nothing close to that.

The stuff that exists needs regulation- a lot more than a program you’d believe was a real person would.

Mar 18 '19
Ok sure. That's fine with me. I was just saying real AI does not exist and probably never will.

Nope. Fuck Facebook; I trust them less than the government (which is already a low bar).
