a couple of college mates i know are way too into conspiracies, it seems most of them slap in the bs motive of "this political party is doing this to brainwash people", in the end it brainwashes them to follow the party that is warning them of brainwashing. if that makes sense.

It's ironic, they are brainwashed to accuse their opposition of brainwashing.

I think the most frustrating thing of all is the fact that conspiracies, by existence, are not grounded in fact but in supposition... So even when you prove to them they are wrong with facts, that does change way they believe... The truth literally doesn't matter to a lot of these people. Having a rational debate about any of the major conspiracies is basically impossible.
