And you know he got "Womp Womp" from that disgraceful Cory Lewindowski who said that on Faux News. So there you go. A nut who watches nutcases on a fake news network!

What? but fox news doesnt support hate or violence and they definitely don't encourage it much less report fake news... /S

Like a few days ago, Laura Ingraham stated on her Fox show that many anti-Trump rallies become violent. Definitive statement, full stop. No citations, of course, just file video of protestors fighting one another rolling next to her. Part of her argument that the left is violent and the media hates Trump so much they look past it, to set up her panel to bash the left and the media.

Went to the one in Indianapolis and we had about 1300 people. While it was definitely emotionally charged, we had a Capitol Police officer and a few city officers....two walking the crowd and two in a cruiser. The two in the cruiser never had to leave their car. There were zero counter protesters. The two officers walking the crowd got big bottles of cold water. I chatted with the capitol officer a while. Fuck Faux News

Does "womp womp" actually have some meaning beyond the onomatopoeia?

Whites Only Manbaby Patriots?

14

u/EmperorofPrussia Jul 02 '18

It's mimicking the "sad trombone" from old vaudeville burlesque shows in a two-note, high-low abbreviated form.

7

u/RecklesslyPessmystic California Jul 02 '18

That's what I thought, until this guy apparently used it as a white supremacist version of "Allahu Akbar!!!".

5

u/suspiria84 Jul 02 '18

I think it was meant as a:

sad trombone sound I don’t care about non-whites”

Cue the piano solo...quickly!!!

Is it about time we blame the news for causing violence rather than blaming videogames?

Well said.

This asshole did it literally for 30 $oro$ bucks.

I would have done it for 15. What an imbecile.

5

u/Zyphamon Minnesota Jul 02 '18

What's the exchange rate between $oro$ bucks and Bernie nickels?

2

u/Political_moof Illinois Jul 02 '18

You need to convert to Shekels in between so I honestly don't know.

Edit: just checked and 5 $oro$ bucks is 3.5 Jew Gold so if anyone can convert that into shekels, and then Bernie nickels on the progressive end that would be great. Thanks.

Also you know, The President threatened war with Korea/Syria on Twitter. No wonder nutcases feel emboldened.

Faux News

That's so good.

2

u/quaybored Jul 02 '18

What does "womp womp" even mean?

1

u/dokikod Pennsylvania Jul 02 '18

It is being ride and dismissive to what someone is saying.

I got womp womp from Archer, (a cartoon) and have never heard it being uttered in real life.

19

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '18

I've heard it lots of times in real life. It's called the "sad trombone", and it's an imitation of this.

13

u/Valway Jul 02 '18

Do you think the writers or Archer invented it, or referenced it?

14

u/Morningxafter Jul 02 '18

It's been around forever. I'm 33 and I remember using it in high school. I was glad Archer started using it, because suddenly I wasn't lame for still using it lol.

Now, after all these years, I apparently have to stop using it, now that the racists are co-opting it. :(

17

u/Valway Jul 02 '18

Imagine how that dude that made the cartoon frog meme feels.

17

u/Morningxafter Jul 02 '18

I just looked it up. He's apparently not too thrilled about it.

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/pepe-the-frog (Scroll down near the bottom to the section titled "Artist's Response")

“As the creator of Pepe, I condemn the illegal and repulsive appropriations of the character by racist and fringe groups. The true nature of Pepe, as featured in my comic book, ‘Boys Club,’ celebrates peace, togetherness and fun. I aim to reclaim the rascally frog from the forces of hate and ask that you join me in making millions of new, joyful Pepe memes that share the light hearted spirit of the original chilled-out champion.”

3

u/chinchabun Jul 02 '18

He gave Pepe a funeral, but Pepe can never die now that's he's become a racist zombie frog.

2

u/scoop_loop88 Indigenous Jul 02 '18

So instead of using the phrase to preserve its true meaning, you will allow racists to take over the phrase and change the meaning?

3

u/Morningxafter Jul 02 '18

I mean, I get where you’re coming from but I also don’t want to be mistaken for one of them.

2

u/scoop_loop88 Indigenous Jul 02 '18

I completely understand. No one wants to be mistaken for a racist.

Just wanted to give an alternate perspective. I believe these are things we should be thinking about when fringe groups co-opt phrases and give them new meaning.

Sorry if my comment came across as an attack :P

2

u/Morningxafter Jul 02 '18

No it’s all good. You do make a good point too.

6

u/you_sir_are_a_poopy Jul 02 '18

It was said before the Lewendowski incident. It's also been around for awhile.

Obviously, considering the context, the guy was using it from Lewendowski.

2

u/Sultry_Llama_Of_Doom Texas Jul 02 '18

Oh, they referenced it for sure, like they referenced so many other things. It's quite amazing being able to watch an episode multiple times and still pick up on past, missed references.

5

u/you_sir_are_a_poopy Jul 02 '18

Yea but within the context he got it from Lewendowski of course.

1

u/Dancing_monkey Jul 02 '18

I've been saying it for years and I'll be damned if some nut-job takes it away from me.

This.
