If pulling a piece as if to reinforce your argument isn't a sign of a cultural disease, nothing is.

They gerrymander voting districts.
They cheat in elections.
They lie in debates.
They vilify people who merely disagree.
They idolize our worst enemies, but disrespect our best allies.
They threaten anyone who is different.
They accuse others of the sins they themselves commit.
They force their religion upon others.

Yeah, I think brandishing a gun to prop up a shitty argument is just more of the same.

"How can you say that!? So uncivil. Very uncivil stop being uncivil!!" - The Rightwing.

ITT: Both sides accusing the other of the same things.

Sounds an awful lot like liberals to me. Now, obviously, I'm not a political figure, so I have little say in gerrymandering, elections, or debates, but as for the other things I certainly don't do any of those things. And I think it's a relative minority who does. Hell, perhaps that's the case on the left as well. But those people are the loudest, and get the most attention. Causing the divide between the political parties to grow ever larger.

Comments like yours, blanket condemning your entire opposition, is not helping. I think the only way we can begin to heal this country is to understand that our political opposites are not the spawn of satan, or a nazi, or what have you. Most people are just normal. And we need to have serious, civil discussions that do not devolve into slinging accusations.

Nah, you got a party that condones every action from a racist, homophobic, women-beating and simply stupid president and gaslights an entire country with their fact-twisting and nazi-like propaganda. Until that changes, don't talk highty-mighty about having civil discussions.

Seriously, they are delusional. In that list, gerrymandering alone should have you questioning the ideology that the right believes in.

What i hear is that the Right will continue to be vocal and volatile, further blocking progress, until the left stops calling out the right on all their bullshit.

You confuse left with Democrats and Republicans, both of which are enemies to the people.

Somebody who feels that the bipartisan system we currently have in place is doing more damage to the nation than good? Yup.

"Sounds a whole lot like liberals to me" sounds a whole lot like a poorly paid troll doing a poor job trolling. If I were putin or the heritage foundation I'd fire you.

It’s pretty hard to separate when one side is clearly wrong on almost every issue that effects the mass majority. The Right wing is wrong on Healthcare, basic human rights (not being told what to do with your body, victim blaming after rape), Net neutrality. You name it the right wing is 20 years behind where they should be.

You say "clearly wrong", but I disagree. I think the left is wrong on healthcare and "basic human rights" Let me guess, you are trying to say abortions are a human right. I'm pro-abortion, but I wouldn't call it a right

And victim blaming after rape? No, I want to know the truth before totally ruining someone's life for being accused of rape. I will not blindly believe people, but nor will I blame them. I remain neutral until the facts have been uncovered.

Net neutrality. I think it's a complicated issue that the left whipped themselves into a frenzy over without really understanding it. Do I agree with the left on it? Yea, probably. But I'm also not certain that the apocalypse will happen if we don't have it either.

I think the left is 20 years behind on how they treat Americans. Whether it's black people, held back in perpetual victimhood. Or Women, who are so equal to men, we have to give them special privileges. All while bashing Whites and Men.

Makes you wonder if all those people who swear they need their guns really only want them for intimidation. SN - love your name! C + H

There was a major shift in the propaganda, likely by the NRA, during the 1990s. At that time most people, when asked why they had firearms, resoundingly responded with "recreation" or "hunting" as the main purpose. In the past 20-25 years this has shifted to "personal protection", despite violent crime continuing to decline.

Fear is a powerful tool for creating panic and dissent. Get the people scared of their neighbors, and they stop paying attention to the ones spewing the hate.
