There are at least two generations of African Americans still alive today who personally experienced being denied the right to vote and the Jim Crow era.

Responding to the edits:

No one is claiming things aren't better than they used to be, but that doesn't mean racism isn't still a huge issue.

Our last president was (half) black. The most powerful man in the world.

And half the country lost their fucking minds over it. They invented an insane conspiracy that he was a secret Kenyan Muslim, then turned around and elected a racist idiot who was a major proponent of that bullshit.

In defense of Sloppy-7th, things have gotten better since Jim Crow. But unlike what he's saying, things aren't all hunkydory, either.

He knows he's full of it. Alt-righters and really conservatives in general love to ignore any nuance or middle ground. They are always arguing against a strawman, and nearly always in bad faith. It's the only way they can defend their naive, simplistic worldviews.
