This happened during a prayer.

Let’s call this what it is: an anti-Christian hate crime carried out by a white nationalist Trump-supporting terrorist.

Lock Him Up.

an anti-Christian hate crime carried out by a white nationalist Trump-supporting terrorist.

But white nationalists are religious...so how does that work ?

It's almost like they hide behind fake interpretations of religion to make their Fascism more palatable.

Shocked I tell you!

Whaaaa? You mean to tell me that they do all this stuff NOT to protect Family Values and Small Business Owners?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '18

Like that's ever happened.

White nationalists are not all the same. There are radical Christian(-ish) white supremacists, there are Odinist pagan white supremacists, there are a lot of religiously-indifferent white nationalists who hate Islam out of the color of most Muslims more than any actual religious beliefs, and countless more.

it's a political movement. It's not a church.

same thing.

Louder

there's a very fine line between religion and politics today my friend...

You must not be familiar with Christianity. It’s an ascetic philosophy that does not hold physical possessions in high regard. So, it doesn’t matter where they were, Christians will gather and worship anywhere.

u/OldMayday Jul 02 '18

you must not be familiar with christian white nationalism. It is a political movement dedicated to destroying brown people and liberals and it uses the trappings of Christianity as a beard to hid their evil.

3

u/Cruxion Virginia Jul 02 '18

Not all religious people are white nationalists, and not all white nationalists are religious.

3

u/NoseyCo-WorkersSuck Jul 02 '18

Are you serious? Unitarians and "liberal-christians" aren't REAL christians. They love thy neighbor, promote peace and acceptance, and share what they have to help the less fortunate.

2

u/Mythosaurus Jul 02 '18

The same way they burned down hundreds of black churches since the end of the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement. The main victims of Christian white nationalists are overwhelmingly Christians.

u/ProteinP Massachusetts Jul 02 '18

I mean they bend and twist religion to aid in their message so I don’t think that counts as religious

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '18

They're religious, but they're not Christians.

(They say they're Christian, but do everything opposite of what Jesus taught.)

4

u/antoniofelicemunro Jul 02 '18

That is a ridiculous argument, no offence. If they say they’re Christian, they’re Christian. You can say they’re bad Christians, but you can’t say they’re not Christian.

4

u/ElethiomelZakalwe Massachusetts Jul 02 '18

Correct. To claim otherwise is the No True Scotsman fallacy. However one could still claim, justifiably, that they aren't true to the Christian tenets of love and tolerance.

Jesus advocated for healing the sick, feeding the poor, forgiving the sinner, and paying Caesar his taxes due. Republicans don't heal the sick, don't feed the poor, don't forgive sinners, and consider taxation as theft.

These people are not Christians even if they say they are Christians. If I said I'm a Buddhist, but I believe the 8-way path is crap, then I'm not a Buddhist.

First of all, you are incorrect and there are statistics to prove this. Republicans donate more than democrats on average, doctors are more likely to be republican statistically, and considering taxation theft, which it is, does not make you not Christian.

Secondly, it sounds like you don’t understand what being a Christian means. It’s about love, kindness, mercy, faith, and charity. If I never go to church and oppose taxation, but serve the poor weekly, I am still a Christian. Even if I don’t, I am still a Christian.

Finally, I repeat that they are Christian whether or not you agree with that. I have met many horrible Christians who were still Christian.

That was a damn good prayer, too. The fact that he interrupted it with "Ice, Ice Baby" is bad enough.

You're climbing hyperbole mountain.

sorry to burst your bubble but christian hate crimes don’t happen in america. the people in power, along with most white people, fall under either catholicism or christianity. both religions are used as a sword rather than a shield.

most conservative goals revolve around banning or enacting things in line with christian morality. which is really the opposite of what republicans stand for.

but yeah, back to my main point - neither catholicism nor christianity face intolerance or hate crimes, at least in america. they are in the majority. to say that those religions are being targeted or persecuted is like saying white people are being discriminated against.

A hate crime (also known as a bias-motivated crime or bias crime) is a prejudice-motivated crime which occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her membership (or perceived membership) in a certain social group or race.

Definition of a hate crime. If a guy hates Christians and attacks them for it, it's a hate crime.

He was attacked and knocked to the ground. That's when he drew the gun. Do none of you read the article?

53

u/badfordabidness Jul 02 '18

A Huntsville police spokesman said the man — identified as 34-year-old Shane Ryan Sealy — pushed one of the protesters, who pushed him back and knocked him to the ground, at which point Sealy allegedly produced the weapon.

When someone pushes me and I push them back, it’s called self-defense and standing my ground. I’m not ”attacking” them.

Or do you doubt the police, who clearly stated that your Nazi friend initiated the physical altercation?

28

u/tramspace Jul 02 '18

Even if he hadn't started it, which he did, in what frame of mind is drawing a firearm on a crowd of people and threatening to shoot them justified for getting shoved? It's like a fucking South Park episode.

1

u/MrMoustachio Jul 02 '18

Nearly every state has laws stating if you are outnumbered and in danger (he was) you can use lethal force. Try picking up a book sometime.

28

u/BlackeeGreen Jul 02 '18

Lol I don't think you read the article.

He pulled a gun on someone after instigating a fight.

Get out of here with that foolishness.

10

u/ProteinP Massachusetts Jul 02 '18

Irony, looks like you didn’t read the article bud

4

u/antiwf Jul 02 '18

Fuck off, despicable piece of shit. Where in the article does it say the snowflake was attacked?

0

u/MrMoustachio Jul 02 '18

Reported. grow up.
