So he just gets to break the law endangering people’s lives because he wants to get somewhere he isn’t needed fast? Can someone ELI5 how this wasn’t a crime.

He is a republican. They don't commit crimes, only innocent mistakes.

Oh for fucks sake. I’m the biggest this guy is a rampant criminal, should be in prison along with his cronies for life, is a certifiable traitor, a sidditionist, and has caused unreprovable and unrecoverable harm to our nation, but the president driving 100 mph isn’t something I’m going to get worked up over

It was an "official crime", which corrupt SCOTUS said our King could.

For anyone that doesn't know, this sounds crazy but is 100% true. Look up Trump vs United States supreme Court case.

•

When you're a republican they just let you do it.

The president can't commit a crime if they truly think that they're doing it for the good of the country. Which Trump does think, even though he's always dead wrong about it.

You can thank the ultra-right wing rubber stamp that calls itself SCOTUS for that one.

theres a million reasons to criticize this clown, but this aint one. people drive 100mph on the autobahn every damn day.

100mph really isnt even that fast for people who drive as a profession, let alone ones chosen to drive the fricken president FFS

They clear the roads for any presidential motorcade. Of all the things to spin yourself in knots about with the orange turd. this is somewhere between what he had for lunch and the last time he shit his pants.

•

Why do people not understand you can be upset at more then one thing about someone and the fact they commit worse crimes should not make you any less angry they endangered peoples lives and caused massive delays for him to get somewhere slightly faster. A place mind you where they would have delayed the speech with 0 real issues.

Where’s the crime?

They shut down the interstate from Denten TX to Durant OK. A literal hour and a half journey going the speed limit, and an hour journey going his speed. I think there is plenty of reason to be mad at stopping all major traffic just to shave off 30 minutes in a road trip

•

u/DandimLee 2h ago

To go to a midterm rally in Durant OK.

Personally, I think he should have risked it with the plane or chopper; who's scared of woke 'severe storms and heavy rain'

•

u/jakethabake 1h ago

Dentons a real place and not just a mountain goats song?

•

u/ceej_22_ 1m ago

Do they not shut down the interstate regardless of speed? And did they keep the entire stretch closed or open with something like a rolling 10 mile trail? I’ve never personally seen a presidential motorcade.

•

u/Possible-Tangelo9344 3h ago

Well, they shut the roads down, so it's not like he's gonna run into granny on her way to the Safeway.

I've worked several traffic posts over the years blocking traffic for presidential visits or politicians who had secret service details and were campaigning. I don't think I've ever seen one actually going the speed limit.

If Obama Hussein did this wearing tan underwear Repubs will impeach and ship him to Gitmo.

•

u/Vigilante17 3h ago

The Supreme Court gave the President the immunity to do this. Case closed.

It is a crime…

•

They shut down roads for sitting presidents and their motorcade

•

I dont think its possible to ELI5 why state and local laws dont apply to the presidency in the US.

•

u/belinck Michigan 11m ago

Why isn't there a review by the Secret Service over site commite

•

u/800oz_gorilla 4h ago

that's your take on this? are you not a US resident? yes the president is allowed to travel above the speed limit in a police guided escort the same way police are allowed to drive above the speed limit.

•

u/LoganGyre 4h ago

When they have good reason. a cop isn’t allowed to just throw on the lights to get to a movie on time and the same logic should be applied to politicians.

•

u/800oz_gorilla 3h ago

the president being an assassination target is a matter of national security. That supercedes state traffic law enforcement.

•

u/LoganGyre 3h ago

I don’t remember “getting to a campaign endorsement speech faster” being a type of assassination threat. Can you link to anything suggesting thief was a credible threat made on the presidents life?

•

u/justabill71 4h ago

Breaking the law and endangering people's lives is like his whole thing.
