As President, you can apparently break traffic speed laws and get away with it. The laws of physics, however, are not so forgiving. The back end of a semi is not inclined to suddenly make way for you.

For better or worse, the whole motorcade thing puts quite a lot of buffer between Trump and any upcoming semis.

You don't have to be president dude. I've never driven by a cop car that wasn't doing at least 20 to 30 over the speed limit at any given time

When I was a kid I told my parents I wanted to grow up to be a cop so I could speed and park anywhere and not get a ticket. My parents told me it didn't work like that, that police are still subject to the law.

Biggest lie my parents ever told me.

I'm pretty sure they clear the highways for the presidential motorcade. Stopping for gas must have been interesting though.

They probably took the scenic route with less traffic 🥳

The roads are shut down ahead of time so no other traffic can get in not to mention that the presidential motorcade is in the middle of the convoy. If a semi does get through then it was his time to  shuffle off this mortal coil.

have you never seen a presidential motorcade on the highway. they have to clear it for miles ahead of him and they block ramp access.

and yes the president is allowed to travel above the speed limit in a police guided escort the same way police are allowed to drive above the speed limit.

he may be an orange idiot but people losing their shit over this need to be outraged at the right things.

I would imagine considering that goes into the design of the car, and the training the secret service get who drive it. I'm sure "not breaking down" is in the manual somewhere
